Weekend in Guatapé: A 48-Hour Itinerary Starting at Casa Barco
Friday evening
Arrive, check in, and come straight to the water. We'd suggest a light dinner on the dock — patacones, ceviche, something you can eat slowly while the light drops over the reservoir.
Saturday morning
Climb El Peñol early, before the heat and the queues. Back down by late morning, a boat tour of the reservoir's islands and coves fills the middle of the day nicely — most run two to three hours.
Saturday, midday to evening
Lunch back at Casa Barco — the trout is the move after a morning on the water. Spend the afternoon walking the zócalo streets, then return for a slower dinner and, if the sky cooperates, a sunset table.
Sunday
Keep it unhurried: a late breakfast, the malecón at a walking pace, and one more coffee before the drive back to Medellín. Two hours on the road is a small price for two days like this.
